Free Internet for a year contest!

For the next fifteen days we will be running a contest on Twitter where we will give away free Internet service for a year!

We will give away one year of free Internet service (traditional AT&T line shared DSL as fast as we can, or Fusion at up to 30mbps, CA only) every day for 15 days to celebrate our 15th anniversary.

The contest will be run over Twitter, entrants have to use the hashtag #sonicnet .

One entry will be chosen at random every day for fifteen days from the mentions of #sonicnet during the past day. Each mention is an entry, but please don’t over-tweet, spammers won’t be winners.

One win per person, win is transferable if you’re in an area we do not serve (you are welcome to give it away or sell it).

Sonic.net Death Monkeys are leading the way with 2 wins and 1 loss for the 2009 Summer Adult Softball Season. We have a great team full of talent and are having a lot of fun. Games are played weekly on Monday nights till mid-August at Rincon Valley Community Park on the Montectio Blvd side. Santa Rosa, Ca. Game times are 6pm and 7:10 and vary from week to week. Please come out and enjoy a game, the great American past time and Sonic.net!

Two games down, and three to go. The Sonic Death Monkeys have been playing hard and are tied for 4th place! We’d love to have you in the stands cheering us on, tonight’s game starts at 7:20, Howarth Park, Santa Rosa. Thank you everyone!

Sonic Death Monkeys season opener!

The Sonic Death Monkeys have been working hard this last month and are ready
to put their game face on. Our first game of the season is 8:40 tomorrow
night at Howarth Park. Games are played every Tuesday for the next 5-6
weeks and times will vary so if you can’t make this one, we’d love to have
you at another. We need cheering from the crowd, so help get us pumped up
and watch us win some games!

The San Francisco Manager Tools Conference.

Kelsey and I have become big Manager Tools fans, and as such we jumped at the opportunity to attend the Manager Tools Effective Manager Conference when it came to San Francisco.

We learned a lot and met a bunch of great people; I would recommend it to any Managers or aspiring Managers who want to learn more about being an effective Manager.

Our dishwasher at Sonic.net died; the “heat dry” got stuck on and melted some of the dishes.

The dishwasher melted our cup; Mr. Hasselhoff was not pleased.

While a replacement was on order some people forgot how to wash a dish “manually”; thankfully Tony (our resident Web Design Guru) was on hand (pun intended) to help out.

When the replacement arrived Juston (our resident Facilities Guru) went to work.

Things did not go as planned at first; this made for a cranky Juston.

Juston eventually pushed on and now our shiny, new, super energy efficient dishwasher is purring away; this makes for a happy Juston.

The moral of this story is that sometimes things break at Sonic.net and when they do people pitch in to help, do extra work, and keep working until the problem is fixed.

However… sometimes we still forget the difference between dish soap vs. dishwasher detergent:

100% Polyester, machine wash cold, dark colors only and oh so cool.

In preparation for our upcoming annual BBQ Sonic.net has outfitted every employee with Board Shorts embroidered with our company logo.

In appreciation of this gift a few employees volunteered to sport the new shorts.

We would be remiss if we didn’t plug our favorite Coffee Shop and coffee Baristas at Flying Goat; we are fueled by the coffee there and they always take care of us.

Come by the Flying Goat Coffee shop in Santa Rosa during the week (or even on the weekends) and you are likely to find a handful of Sonic.net employees; we love this place. Somehow no matter where we live it’s always “on the way” and has become the post-lunch go-to place during the week for some of us.

Come by for a coffee; if you see people with Sonic.net badges, say “hi”; we’ll be the guys huddled together talking about computers.

Staff BBQ

We celebrated our sales performance of the satellite Internet access product by spending some spiff money on a staff BBQ. The support department was allocated some money for each new satellite customer, and they elected to spend it on some great beer and amazing food for all of us.

Kudos to the chefs in the support group. This was a great way to close out a Friday afternoon.
