IMAP performance problems solved.
September 26, 2008 – 4:09 pm by Augie Schwer We believe we have fixed the recent IMAP performance problems; let us know if you have any trouble with imap.sonic.net still.
For the past few days we have received a number of reports from customers concerned about periodic slow IMAP performance to imap.sonic.net; the problem would manifest as a mail client behaving very slowly when reading e-mail or timing out all together.
The periodic nature of the problem made it very difficult to troubleshoot as by the time a customer would call to alert us to the problem it would then mysteriously go away.
We believe we have solved the problem and have since implemented much more detailed monitoring of the imap.sonic.net IMAP cluster.
Note: we have seen a handful of reports of slow Webmail performance; those servers are completely separate from the imap.sonic.net cluster, so if you are seeing Webmail performance problems, please note the time it occurred, the error you saw if any and send an e-mail to support@sonic.net .

Thanks, guys. I’ve been seeing this problem recently, but didn’t bother calling tech support since it would always go away quickly.
This kind of response is why I stick with Sonic.net for my domain and email, if only AT&T offered decent speed DSL in my neighborhood I’d switch my whole Internet service back to you again in a heartbeat.

I have tired for several days to enable my iphone to receive my sonic mail. I have read and reread and loaded and reloaded the account, using imap.sonic.net, without success. I have perused the website and have found nothing useful. Any suggestions, anyone?

Karen, we are currently working on screenshots for the iPhone that will show all the correct settings needed to configure the iPhone for our servers. I’m not sure why we have waited this long, but I will post a follow up here when they are complete and live on our site!

Thank you for the response! I am a big sonic fan and really dislike having to toggle between a temporary gmail account when I am out and about with the iphone.
